Young Author & Artist Showcase

For decades, Sister Cities International has leveraged the power that art has to transform societies and transcend cultural boundaries through the Young Artists and Authors Showcase, or YAAS. The Showcase has given youth worldwide the opportunity to express their vision for a more unified, peaceful world through original art and literature.

Since 2009, RSCC has hosted a local version of the YAAS competition. The young artists and authors from Richmond and our sister cities are exhibited locally and awarded prizes. The winners are then submitted to the national YAAS competition. The winners of the national competition have traditionally been exhibited at the annual meetings of Sister Cities International and then sent on the road to be hosted as a traveling exhibition by US-based sister cities. COVID restrictions mean this exhibition is now experienced online.
